And via general US incompetence we have managed to create an alliance of convenience between China and Russia, two countries which since the CCP took power in China were never natural allies. People also forget the 3-week Sino-Vietnamese border war in 1979 (30k killed and as many wounded on both sides) was primarily the result of China's perception of increasing Soviet influence in SE Asia.So to sum, Putin is imo likely going to play it cool with a military response such as airstrikes that allows countries such as Germany to say he did not actually do much anything. And meanwhile, Russia and China become closer while the France and Germany realize NATO is not the deal they signed up for.
