@lain @kaia most of the time when rich shits give money to "philanthropic" organizations it's just a tax-deductible way to move money around. very often these kinds of "charities" dedicate 99% of their income to "administrative fees" and coincidentally employee lots of people who are eerily close to their donors; very little if any of the money actually ends up going to help people. or sometimes the "charities" are extremely effective but what they're trying to accomplish is just evil (like bill gates' charitable efforts to destroy agriculture in the global south) idk if this is what bezos is up to but "he donated money to a charity!!" is not in itself evidence that a billionaire is not a gigantic selfish piece of shit.(and either way bezos certainly is a gigantic piece of shit; i had the misfortune of living in a city he very nearly runs (there was maybe one woman on city council, a nutbag sjw named kshama sawant, who was not in his pocket) so i've seen up close and personal just how charitable he is)
