It's actually somewhat of a pivot from blaming people who went to college directly which he used to do. He must have realized that he was alienating most people under the age of 50 by doing that.

Thanks for reminding me how much I hate Jesse Kelly. On a related note, it’s weird how these “conservative” pundits never discuss interest rates/usury in their student loan rants. Paying off $100k in student loan debt at 3% APR might be doable for many but 6.8% is going to be nearly impossible.

Yeah they’re partially right, but there’s also a lot of weird edge cases out there where people take calculated risks that don’t work out (i.e. graduate from med school and don’t match into residency) and these assholes act like it’s some moral failure on the part of the borrower.

There are other college options beyond $30k+ per year private schools. The median bachelor's student loan debt upon graduation is just $29k because state schools actually do exist.
