@mkultra @Ottovonshitpost it's a very interesting conundrum.The low church protestant denominations in the past, I'm thinking quakers and unitarians, have become super liberal, while low church denominations that are not as old, say the free church baptists in that pill for instance, are more conservative.I think protestantism has been especially susceptible to the gravitational pull of whatever the zeitgeist is at the moment.

I'm painting with a broad brush but the Greeks who come here are largely libtards with money, they have really nice churches but I'm ashamed to say I have been scandalized more than once by their laxity (my godson was baptized at a Greek church). Going around the major American base in the area seemed to be a great way to expose the vulnerability of Japan while all her forces were in the Indian ocean against a stronger nation spoiling for a fight.Plus pearl harbor was supposed to be more effective- remember that despite the death toll only a third of the strategic objectives were fulfilled- the battle line was sunk but the carriers were fine and the fuel dumps were totally intact. Without the other two things the US Navy would have taken a lot longer to be effective in the Pacific

@Paultron I mean pearl harbor went ok - there was no guarantee it would be a surprise in the first place since they had to secretly sail the fleet all the way over to hawaii. And yeah the American govt wanted war - but they couldn't sell it to the public very easily. The american people didn't want to bleed again after wwi. That island hopping shit was not gonna happen. Pearl harbor completely blew that up and made it so they had to fight an america that actually had its heart in it. And this also had the effect that america jumped in whole heartedly to europe too and delivered the soviets 1 billion jeeps for free.Sure, the the japanese considered not making the mistake but it turned out terribly and it's hard to imagine it going better for them without some amazing luck.
