@LouisConde @BanditHeeler Whenever I hear these climate maniacs talk about internal combustion cars being banned/stopping production they always have to add an asterisk that says "In the West."Third-world countries are absolutely not going to follow this EV madness because they don't have the infrastructure to do so. First-world countries don't either but at least in third-world countries it's too obvious to hide. So most of these car companies will still make real cars, they'll just focus on selling them in the third-world.And then in the first-world most of the bans are on new cars, not used cars, so there'll likely be a heavily inflated market on used cars, included imported used cars from third-world countries.

They'll make some argument about how "ackshually we don't need to eliminate ALL pollution, simply eliminating pollution from cars will be enough" and people will be discomfited but not enough to Do Something™ about it, just like we saw with the covid "lockdowns" which in like 90% of places were as serious as "wear a mask in walmart".

@LouisConde @Duine @BanditHeeler Because American infrastructure is so shitty I don't see EV mandates coming, probably the US federal government will just find ways to keep the price of gasoline and diesel high and make ICE vehicles more expensive. They'll probably be more EVs, they do work despite the multitudes of problems (The high cost, the lack charging infrastructure in most places, high repair cost, battery replacement cost, battery fires). Even with all those problems I have a neighbor who's had a Tesla for several years now, and he isn't dead and the car still works. I guess if you want to do that and have fun with battery replacements and the risk of fire you can, but mass adoption of EVs is a whole different story. Plus there's also reasons to keep ICE vehicles around even if most of those EV issues could be solved, not that I think the government cares about being rational here.

But for things like trucks (18-wheelers, smaller delivery and maintenance vehicles, garbage trucks, etc.) I don't see it happening.
