Did people only participate in the early internet because they saw it as a get rich quick scheme? Is the web as a platform a side effect of scams?If so, is there a faint possibility that a useful protocol that could come out of NFTs?

@mibzman i think the existence of "eternal september" means that most early internet people weren't here for commercial reasons

This probably isn't true because the web started as an academic thing (so did blockchains kinda) and there are actual uses for the internet, even with only 2 users.But at the same time I don't think IPFS would exist without crypto BS and I think it's kinda neat.
