@waffelo I want to like sleeper trains but I looked one up for my next trip and it leaves my local station at 2am and costs $2k roundtrip just to go a few states over. Hard pass.

@waffelo This is 100% true. I've taken the train overnight through the Sierra Nevadas while it was snowing. It was absolutely gorgeous.Trains are much better if you're not in such a hurry that you need to fly. And they are comfier, you get meals on a full size table, showers, a bed.The only reason I don't do trips like that more often is that it's hundreds of dollars MORE expensive to travel by train than to fly.

@waffelo Except that in countries that aren't the size of moderately sized states, the train takes you a week to get somewhere that you could have flown to in five hours and driven to in two or three days.
