On this the first full day dawning on The Twilight of the Independent But Original Wordle, my most auspicious result!I got it in two. First guess had the middle three letters correct, the last one out of place. Swap that to the only remaining slot at the front, fill in the now obvious last letter and ... done!

@deejoe I still have not been lucky enough to get one in 1 or 2.

@murph alas. But I think you're quite right that such an early completion is down to luck.I've been telling myself I'm playing to finish and not to 'win' whatever that would mean, but it's still fun to hit it in so few. I hadn't even broken 3 yet!

@deejoe I'm sure that there are some people who are analyzing the previous words, and can take better first guesses to improve chances of that opening move win. I don't work that hard, I have a few go-to openers that do pretty well for me, and I try to work toward an answer from there. So, most of mine are a mixture of 3-4-5s. If this becomes too much work, it won't be fun.

@murph Agreed!I mean, I have gotten a little strategic here & there. With yesterday's word I did what I'm calling a strategic off-path guess to disambiguate the letter I was missing, successfully. And I do try to apply what I remember of letter frequencies from elementary-school level books on cryptography & the Linotype keysmash. But I haven't hit that combination of boredom & curiosity or whatever that leads some to script it.
