       It's kinda sad that there is no "official" Mastodon App for Android, like there is on iOS.  Does anybody know here if anything like that is in the works?

       @metalune If you value the local timeline you'll probably want to steer clear of any official clients. IIRC Eugen feels it's deprecated and it isn't used in the official iOS app.

       @proactiveservices huh that's interesting, I haven't used a timeline in a while though so not a biggie for me personally but I don't think that it should be removed

       @metalune an "official" client seems antithetical to a decentralized platform. And while I loathe to be a gatekeeper, keeping the steep learning curve forces people to actually WANT to be here, as opposed to conveniently dropping in to further their selfish enterprising and "influencing" goals. I'm not suggesting that desiring fixed stability to be selfish, but many of us fear that anything "official" could easily lead to the very destruction of what we found here.

       @gnomad108 I mean.. I agree on one hand but on the other hand.. there has been an official Mastodon App for iOS for a while now and at least I didn't notice a big difference

       @metalune The reason for the "official" iOS app is due to the necessity of getting approval through Apple. If Apple didn't require all the apps go through them, I doubt you would see much "official" anything

       @metalune I use husky myself but I'm sort of surprised myself there isn't an app. Sure it's one of the big guys but Mastodon still does pretty respectable numbers
