https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-60181568In Scotland, about 48,500 properties are without power in the Aberdeenshire, Angus, Perthshire and the Moray Coast. Another 6,000 households are waiting to be reconnected in the Borders and Lothian.Among those without power are a number of care homes in Aberdeenshire. 😬

@HebrideanHecate Sheesh, and I thought the march of the wheelie bins this morning was bad.

@LoveACurry We had it worse a couple weeks back, was blowy but must havebeen direction, seemed to clatter north and east more.Probably wilder up the open parts in Skye, we are a bit moresheltered hear, could here it like it was sort of in the distancein some odd way. Kind of like a thunder rumbling away.

@HebrideanHecate It's been an odd season as the west coast normally gets the brunt of it but now we've had 2 very intense ones right down the coast of NE England. Lots of buildings ripped apart. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-60181656

@LoveACurry Bloody hell! That’s one thing at home, stuff withstands it prettywell, unless it is one of the hurricane level ones, and even thenit isn’t widespread damage like built up areas and we have notgot trees, not these big ones anyway, and very few of any others.

@LoveACurry One of the things I wonder about with these bloody hideousnew buildings being put up now is will they actually withstandour winds, they certainly don’t look up to it, not like the buildingswhich are traditional to the area. On the islands, I mean.In my 20s we had a bad one, a family friend did not believehow bad it could get, came to stay for New Year and we hada humdinger of a storm, the house was shaking, he believedit then alright! My God, I have been on some hairy ferry crossingstoo, really wild ones.

@HebrideanHecate Just about everything with a glass roof was closed to the public, today - shopping centres, bus stations, the Sage. All our old brick housing stock seems to cop it. All the new pre-fabricsted stuff is probably sturdier but will just rot in 30 years, instead. Did I mention the damp?Yiu can keep your ferry crossings 🤢

@LoveACurry Himself was saying that the school has been leaking badly forages, and it is not the old 1960s monstrosity bit but the piecewhich was done about 10 years ago, crap materials, crap work. Also, when the boys’ lav was re done a bad smell was noticedafter a while and nothing found, eventually discovered that whenthey had done whatever they did to it they had just left the oldones bricked up behind everything and all the pipes were choked!
