@matt horrific. And a sad commentary on the current state of humanity.

@dallin @matt It’s also sad how I could see myself walking past this guy. I pass a lot of homeless folks who are sleeping on the ground this time of year who have just enough clothing to survive and every year a few don’t. These folks are usually completely out of their mind, violent, and have been kicked out of shelters. Other than locking them up, I don’t know of a solution.

@mikael It sure is. But a reminder to all to be a little less selfish.

@dallin indeed. Keep asking myself if I’d have stopped. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t.

@daniel Yeah, I hear you. It’s always a gamble to know what the reaction will be if you approach or try to interact. It’s a shame. And I’ve heard many people in this position will commit crimes so they get locked up because a night in prison means a bed and food for the night. I sometimes help out at a homeless night shelter but it’s still 50/50 of whether I’d approach someone lay on the street. Usually I’m caught up in my own thoughts. cc/ @dallin

@matt I know the usual thoughts are to ignoring homeless people sleeping on a sidewalk, but it reminds me when I was in Oslo. Being from where I am from I'm not used to walking on ice at all, and I fell quite a lot when over there despite having bought boots meant for ice. People just walked around me as if I weren't there. Fast forward to Canada several years later in the same situation, and I was helped up by several strangers.

@dustin Ohhhh yeah. People in Oslo definitely are cold. Not just physically.I came off my bicycle once and rolled through the middle of the road. Nobody came to help. One person asked how I was but only after I stood up and carried myself and my bike to the pavement before the tram came by. You find pockets of politeness and openness but mostly people keep to themselves.
