Big country, no infrastructure, and gasoline cars work better than EVs and Diesels in the cold. Wow, why isn't anyone buying EVs again?

@parisc Energy density of fossil fuels don't even compare to energy density of incredibly flammable lithium-ion cells and less flammable but more scarce hydrogen

@CodenameChen I've said this before and I'll say it again: battery EVs are a dead-end technology compared to powering the motor via any other means.

@parisc also durability of vehicles, some current gen electric cars (upcoming tesla models) are even designed to be scrapped once the battery failed (the battery housing is a structural member, the car needs to be dismantled to replace it - not worth it for most owners)and of course electricity is no longer cheaper than gas/diesel unless you are off-grid powered (but you could just as well run gas cars on moonshine and diesels on plant oils)

@ic3l9 Telsa is literally doing the same shit some of the BMW EVs did where they make it so you have to replace the whole battery instead of some cells to fix a bad battery...that is if you aren't reverse engineering it and all.

@parisc I wouldn't say that, there are some applicationsIt would enable trolleybuses to be more versatile with their routes, if you add just enough battery packs. They won't wear out as much as batteries on regular EVs, making them an advantage rather than an expensive alternative

@parisc wym diesel? diesel is the most based fuel. you can get additives that keep it from gelling even in negative freedom unit weather, and if you have an old VW TDI you can get 40-60 eagles per budweiser

@GirthyChode Well when I meant in the cold I'm referring to the retarded normie who starts moaning that their diesel car isn't exactly the same engine wise. That's one reason it failed in the USA outside of trucks.

@parisc EVs are consumer-hostile and only the most optimistically naive goodboy point collectors buy themand of course soy elonites and people who throw away their cars every other year anyways just to be able to brag

@parisc it is very unfortunate that it did, i would love to have a sweet ride that i can run on biodiesel i make myself without having to buy a pickup truck. I want decent gas mileage.

@GirthyChode You can still find used pre-06 TDIs and Diesel Benzes on Craigslist/autotrader but you might have to go to another state.

@CodenameChen @parisc usually trolleybusses are also big and heavy enough (compared to their power requirements) to allow modular, maintenance-friendly battery systems that don't turn the vehicle into scrap upon failure (unless the failure is explosive)

@ic3l9 @CodenameChen I'm sure they let anything not sold to consumers be more repairable too, just like with consumer laptops vs business laptops.

@benis @parisc The risk assessment of hydrogen-driven vehicles identified and quantified the additional risks related to hydrogen explosions. 1) Five types of hydrogen explosions were identified: > explosion in atmosphere in open environment – possible damage of car and injuries of individuals in the area of incident (EXP1),> explosion in atmosphere and in semi-confined environment – possible damage of car and damage of other property in the accidental zone of 10 m, injuries of individuals in the area of the incident (EXP2), > explosion of the car due to initial fire in combination with hydrogen releases in internal compartment of the car – possible destruction of the car, damage of other property in the accidental zone and possible severe injuries (EXP3), > explosion of storage tank – destruction of the car, damage of other property in the accidental zone of ~80 m and lethal casualties in the accidental zone (EXP4),> explosion of an refueling station - destruction of the car, damage of other property in the accidental zone of ~100 m and lethal casualties in the accidental zone (EXP5). 2) Estimated hydrogen explosion frequency is 5.47E-05 per car per year.3) 99,8% of the risk relates to explosions in open and semi-confined environments (EXP1 and EXP2). These types of consequences are comparable with consequences of normal traffic accidents (injuries of persons, damage of cars and properties in the area of accident) and represents less than 2% of traffic accidents (3.69E-03 per car per year).

@CodenameChen @parisc you made a statement on hydrogen in general, not in cars
