"greedy landlords" my ass. After mortgage payments, up the ass property taxes, maintenance fees, etc. Most landlords these days actually end up breaking even or losing money every month renting at market value. The profit is in the equity that is built per payment.

@watch4thedrop I had a tenant family go sideways and DESTROYED my rental home a few years back. $15,000 of repairs to prepare to sell it. Cats who lived in our drop ceilings. Will never forget the smell of the acid we used to clean and mop.Could not sue them due to their bankruptcy proceedings, and the eviction took forever while they thumbed their noses at us. What a dang nightmare.I sold it in a bad bubble, because it was so bad; so made nada. Broke even only outside of the repair hit.

@watch4thedrop "Based on inflation" 😂 If the government says something, it must be true, right?Local governments can pass "renter's rights" laws, but they can't make people be landlords. In the end, they just force other renters to pay for deadbeats' shenanigans.

@watch4thedrop That must explain the current method of determining rent by charging at least $1,000 per bedroom, which makes for exponentially higher rents than my area used to have 20 years ago. But anything 20 years ago might as well be the ice age, because we really can no longer compare that to how we do things now.

When I bought hubs out after divorce, and then got another home to move closer into Metro Atlanta in my small company executive position, I decided to try renting it rather than selling.The first renters were dreams for 3 years. I knew them a bit; wife and me were on PTA together for kids' elementary school. They were construction entrepreneurs, but hit hard times.
