At least most of em where decent human beings who just wanted to make something but they had no experience and no good budget.If Crunchyroll actually cared about quality they would have turned em down til they had an actual competent script, but since it's marketable to do muh diversity and le gayz they just put up a trailer talking about muh women and hoped it would sell.Basically its kind of a No Man's Sky situation. But yeah I think it would have failed even with the budget, just the art wouldn't have sucked so much in some places

It's been tried since the early 2000s to adopt some aesthetics from anime into western animation and it's never worked. To make it successful would mean changing the message to adopt the genre.

It's exactly like Steven Universe because Cal Arts students all have the same problem. They do a surface level look at what the Japanese are doing and conclude "ok big eyes, colorful design, and intricate lore make a good show". They don't look at difference between what the Japanese prioritize in their drawings and what American prioritize and then attempt to bridge that gap or make those adjustments. They aren't very good at breaking things down and working with the parts, they're only good at looking at a whole subject.

Teen Titans got cancelled and followed up on by it's reboot series. When I say it never worked, I mean it didn't work with the message that American cartoons are meant to deliver, so they were superficial at best and didn't last. There were good ones like Avatar and Teen Titans, but those were exceptions to the rule rather than a real trend.
