I grew up calling it Pop...then, I went to Texas @ 19 and they called it Soda! I thought it sounded better as Soda and so I now call it soda. Hearing people call it Pop now throws me off. What do YOU call it?!

@HardCordelia @Burnt ahhhhhhhh...That's funny! I say it the long way. "needs to be cleaned" I DO have friends that say stuff like, "I done it yesterday" instead of "I did it yesterday" -or-"I seen it over there"instead of, "I saw it over there" -->same waRsh people 😂 It drives me crazy inside to hear the poor english now (I'm NOT a Grammar Nazi...but I REALLY want to correct them but don't 😂)

@apple_dumplin @HardCordelia My mom is the reason I shed my Eastern Kentucky accent... But I don't know that it helped anything. In some ways I think an accent is charming and I speak with almost a monotone delivery now. I definitely don't have a voice for radio.

@Burnt @apple_dumplin regional speech is interesting to me, I don’t judge people for bad grammar. Much. I am definitely guilty of a flat delivery as well, probably because I was trying so hard not to sound like a valley girl in the 90s.

@Burnt @HardCordelia The Southern is my FAVORITE! Not lazy southern though like Ummmmm.. I don't know...Sheriff Rosco Coltrane from the "Dukes of Hazzard" has a "lazy southern to me. I like the sound of the Southern that's in "Fried Green Tomatoes" or "Gone with the Wind" 😄 However, when I have gone to the Souther states, most of the time I just want everyone just to KEEP TALKING!!! I don't care what you talk about just talk! I LOVE the accent!! ❤️

@HardCordelia @apple_dumplin Sometimes I wonder if I'm subconsciously repressing it. Because I've seen videos of me as a child... Sounding like a complete hillbilly. I hate that I thought it made me sound dumb, cause now I think it adds interest. With the right accent I can talk about dark souls lore for like... 15 minutes before people realize how nerdy I am

@JayDubs I don'no 🤔 the people I was with (in Texas -> all grew up there) they called it"soda" when I was there. Now. They could have called it Coke when I went out to eat...but, most places I went to eat had Coke...so in that instance I wouldn't have noticed the difference. I was informed about Dr. Pepper there. I found that interesting!

@JayDubs I visited the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Tx. I even stayed there for around 3 weeks at Christmas time. I was visiting a guy I was dating at the time and stayed at his family's house. They seemed to be REALLY well off. Do different social classes call it differently? 🤔 Another thing, most-everyone in Oregon calls it, pop. However, if you were to stay at my house I would say, "soda" because I picked it up when I was in Tx....you would walk away thinking people here called it soda.

@apple_dumplin Almost exactly the same experience here. It was always pop until I moved to Texas at age 20. I later moved to Minnesota and now Iowa (pop land), but I insist on soda. Though I don't drink it anymore.
