I live in the Northern USA, most of the Mexicans we have up here are caramel or darker skin tone. So naturally, when you're a little kid you make the association that they *all* look that way. It wasn't until I was about 9 that I saw a pale, fair-skinned Mexican and I was incredibly confused by this possibility. And then I saw that a lot of argies and Chileans just look like copy+pasted germans or Italians and then I just gave up questioning anything.

Apparently the mainstream theory is that indians did the mining and traded with other indians for flint and other shit we know they used. I think its more likely that if the mainstream theory is true they came into the area thru the great lakes and found natives making trinkets out of the copper that was literally on the surface level in streams and what not it was so pure and plentiful and then they either mined it themselves or taught the natives to do it so they could come back and trade with them. I guess technically it is a water heater but they put them right on the shower head or faucet instead of a big unit that heats all the water for the house like we have,

They're common in western Europe, though they're much bigger (about 12" x 6" x 2") and much better sealed electricallyMost houses also have a water heater for the whole house, either a combi boiler that heats water on demand or an immersion boiler in older building that stores heated water and reheats it on a timerI've never really understood why we have central water heaters and an electric heater for the shower, maybe it's more consistent in temperature?

Yeah idk if your water heater is working correctly there shouldn't be a need for it.
