I rag on pleroma a lot these days, but as shit as it looks, it's much more functional. I could not get my head around gleasonator and everything is in shitty spots. even mastodon is better.

why isn't all the settings is in one spot? I had to look and it turns out to import followers you have to look at the footer why isn't it just all in one big monolithic prefrences panel?

@jessica@mk.absturztau.be Yeah, I'm not a fan of soapbox. I'm not a fan of the twitter UI so a project trying to replicate that isn't useful to me.

@jessica @Epsi Soapbox is a terrible interface, and gleason only fucking with it more pushes me away from it more.>why isn't it just all in one big monolithic prefrences panel?Because he can't design, this took me forever to find as well.Misskey is nice but it feels too "fun" for me. It's fun to lurk posts on it, but browsing hellthreads and stuff without my CPU hitting full blast is impossibleWorking on my own frontend for all these reasons :cirnoDance: :cirnoDance: :cirnoDance: :cirnoDance:

@neko@cum.desupost.soy @Epsi@mk.absturztau.be yeah misskey is a hog sometimes. but it has every reason to be a hog, it does a lot. the worst thing I hate is when an application is a hog for no real reason. I like gnome, but there's no reason at all that it should take a whole gig of ram

@jessica @Epsi I understand, although from a developer POV, it is quite a hog and could be lighter. Misskey feels a lot like a bloated Emacs implementation for the fediverse

@neko@cum.desupost.soy @Epsi@mk.absturztau.be there are some things you can do to lighten the load for misskey, but it is a hog over all. but the way it's designed IMO makes it really good for a phone, at least if it didn't hog CPU

@Epsi @jessica Gleason's been trying to turn Fedi into his own little Free-Speech-Bird-Faggotry-Facebook-Clone fediverse and has been fucking around with the interfaces. Pleroma recently got a brute forced stable release coming in, because well one, it had a lot that was caught up with, but mainly because gleason did a "mentions" patch and forced the mentions.Mentions are okay, except for the fact that many interfaces had to quickly brute them into place, hell, I run lots of patches to make pleroma more usable on my instance, but the new update fucked up everything for me because of how I moved the replies and mentions back to the top [picrel]In all honesty, this would've gone fine, if he didn't fucking retaliate at user feedback and retort to name-calling when people complained and suggested alternatives and stuff. Now he's getting mad that everyone is getting mad at him as if he didn't do anything to begin with and calling out the pleroma devs getting mad at him.Even misskey supports mentions, nothing wrong with those honestly, except that Soapbox [completely eliminates] the Links that are there, where Misskey does both (one would be preferable though), so if your client doesn't support these "mentions", then you're basically fucked. Everyone rushed in to add these back in, but some of the "more dead" applications are now dead until someone picks them up.Basically, the fediverse should mostly be soapbox now, that's how he wants it to be: all soapbox users and soapbox friendly. He submitted patches into upstream Pleroma backend to work with his Soapbox tweaks. Soapbox isn't even good anyway and doesn't even support all the features, but his reigns "superior"It's probably the most normal person friendly user interface at the moment, but this same shit happened with GNOME and stuff and you can see how it turns out.

@neko @Epsi @jessica I tried to warn Gleason that even though some of his contributions definitely helped Pleroma and Soapbox is fairly good as a frontend, his lack of flexibility and willingness to hear feedback would bite back eventually.
