@thendrix @lain @kaia Ram doubled in priced from 2015 to 2018 due to the Samsung Note recall and other things. It eventually went back down .. but video cards have been this way for a while.I think when the Intel Xe cards come out, it might help. I'm curious to see how they preform.

@djsumdog @lain @kaia Ah, in the US rent is up 25-30% YoY in many places. It's not coming back down anytime soon. And that's if geopolitical stability is OK.

@fiddle @lain @kaia @thendrix nVidia and AMD both used TSMC and Samsung right? Intel has their own fab plants, so they are in a better place to pump out their own sand without waiting in the queue.

@djsumdog @fiddle @lain @kaia Nvidia is even using unused process sizes with 2xxx refresh. There is more at play than just wafer ava. Intel is using an even newer node iirc. The entire global supply chain has collapsed, and people are going to be more worried about food and fuel than GPUs by the middle of the year.I predict more people not affected now will notice when coffee is hard to get.

@thendrix That’s kinda weird because it dropped by 20% in a lot of places (my old apartment in Chicago was vacant for over six months after I left). People in Chicago are now complaining rent is going up, but it’s not really going up .. it’s going back to where it was.They got a good deal last year and are now competing against landlords trying to recover their losses. I suspect Chicago probably has an influx of idiots in the suburbs who prefer a government that does something even if it’s authoritarian and ineffective .. or people who want to stay in a blue area but want to flee NYC or SF.@lain @kaia
