The Pacific northwest is a shithole. Beautiful area, but the "community" is cancer. After a review of the recent comment threat in local "news" articles and Facebag groups, I realized I am surrounded by half-witted feckless socialist losers. They maybe useful idiots elsewhere, but in the PNW, they are just idiots.

@shill It's very frustrating. Why did we let the idiots and assholes take over some of the most beautiful parts of our country?

@SirDaddyO Years of mass migration of California, Illinois, Wisconsin, and New York "progressives". Literally every transplant I've met in the past 20 years is from those states. Coupled with the laid back PNW attitude/lowkey depression makes for a "sluggish" response. That and toxic combo of King County/Olympia

@SirDaddyO Full disclosure, I am from one of those states (CA), but I've done almost 30 years in WA, so you can't tell.

@shill The big difference, in my experience, is people who treat their home like a home and people who treat it like an investment or just a temporary thing. If you come to a place and want to change it to suit your whims and desire or if you come to a place and appreciate it and want to be a part of it . . . really two completely different world views.

@SirDaddyO Maybe. My feeling is this is a byproduct/symptom of the combination of the self-righteous mindset that everyone else's business/life/choices/property is subject to your opinion and must conform. That the world must confirm to your snowflake bs. Add to that the general socialist/commie mindset of destruction at all costs. With a big ol helping of ignorant and lazy. All these things lead to the decay of communities and your neighbor. Negative mindset and fecklessness run amok.

@shill I lived in Seattle and visited Portland often from 1998 through the end of 2001... seeing those KOMO News documentaries on Seattle post-2015... the downtown looks like a zombie zone ghetto. And Portland... Commie uprising nightly.

@shill 26 years in Puyallup born and raised there. The locals in Puyallup are pretty decent people, although I didn’t get to see the pandemic side of them. Glad I moved out when I did though. I miss the mountain, there’s a piece missing from my regular view out here in the Midwest or south, or whatever Oklahoma is.

@shill i agree for most medium to large cities, but you can find some solid community when you get out and start exploring… Around Sacramento, the small towns on your way up to Tahoe are great, filled with friendly folks… Cameron Park, Auburn, Placerville…

@shill I moved there about 7 years ago from TX. Started a family and started putting down roots. But the riots and the covid hysteria made me feel like we had to go. I'm still struggling with the hurt from being abandoned by my community when I needed them the most, but I'm so glad we left last January since it looks like they are on track for quarantine camps.

@SirRyan agree. There are pockets everywhere. On the Olympic peninsula, not so much. Much smaller pockets, fewer and farther between. There are some really good people scattered amongst the trash up here.

@shill that’s a bummer… at least you’ve got enough nature to escape the craziness of Seattle… go up to see Cory with his beautiful farm and lovely family in Oak Harbor! He’s got some of the best meats money can buy (@farmslave )

@shill Midwest far north is where it's at. It's pretty (not as pretty as out there) but the community where I'm at is stellar. Very very religious (too much for me) with huge families. Very nice people though who volunteer and care about their community.
