Speaking from experience here: Employers subverting, bribing and/or infiltrating unions is a much better tactic than trying to break them up.Works doubly well when the union leadership and employers has the same political beliefs. Also even in retail jobs in my area bosses are realizing quickly they can't stay afloat while treating their employees like shit. All these gas stations paying $20 an hour for people to sit behind a counter and stock sodas are going to fire them all and rehire at minimum as soon as the job market corrects. (Or theyâre going to pick the one slightly competent person, promote them to manager at the same rate, and tell everyone else enjoy your $7.25 or leave)

This is actually how you get respect, better conditions, and negotiate. This is actually how you do it, not how youâre taught to do it. This assumes everyone is fungible. Pic related is what's happening to my industry, a lot of the competent people that left are simply not coming back, and the education system is not capable enough to train replacements for them. For things like gas station workers, there's probably no wokeness, but the same sense of apathy - bn mean that the screening system for welfare is fucked, and hyperinflation means why even bother unless you make enough to offset it. Working some remote gas station in Nevada is something only boomers were irrationally altruistic enough to do - the pay doesn't line up with the effort of driving out there and sitting in the scorching heat all day, and the new generation of workers don't see any reason to take these essential (if not incredibly skilled) but unpleasant jobs.Like yes, there are jobs that are worthless or less-than-worthless, but those are HR managers, and so on. They already make ~80k a year, and they'll be working from home until someone clever and ambitious slaps a blanket ban on the profession in order to secure the eternal loyalty of everyone who's ever had to interact with them. The no-collar unskilled jobs that they're running out of workers for indicates that nobody really cares anymore, and nobody's willing to take those jobs. Useful migrants, who people used to assume would take them and bring wages back down, have stopped coming - it's entirely welfare bantus now.

@Bunny @cyberanathema not that i disagree with what you write, but, in practice what happens is you are entitled to only exactly what you can negotiateand a biz owner can go years without anyone on staff. meanwhile most of the laborers work paycheck to paycheck. the power imbalance is very one-way. if they want better wages they should organize. in a way, this is what they are trying to do here. but because they are unskilled, scabs are readily available so i don't expect this to happen.frankly i would close my business before i had to put up with this kind of behavior. and i think many boomers would rather close up shop than pay more for wages. so we will see many of these hobby type businesses close. it's not as if dunkin donuts or a bookstore are part of the economy, they probably barely break even if that. it's just a hobby by the owner, and if the hobby isn't fun they will do something else.probably more than half of the american economy is these jobs by boomer hobbyists. and when people go to demand better wages, the boomers will just close up shop, buy an RV and play golf instead.

I lost multiple jobs to newly retired boomers who wanted to stay busy and got sick of their bitch wife. They routinely take shitty entry level jobs just to enjoy flying around. I hate them sometimes. The same guys lecture you on making your career like they did....but most of what they did is now illegal, or unlawful at best.
