Just use btrfs unironically, or if performance is a concern, have root be like 100GB in XFS and gib the rest to /home with btrfs, i did that for some years.

i do a lot of shit with ffmpeg and haven’t noticed, does your friend use a thinkpad from 2011? if so that may be the origin of his lack of performance.Btrfs just works, been using it since like 2017 without problems, than again i have distrohopped a couple times since then…on the unstability of btrfs i have yet to experience it, then again i don’t update the kernel oftenly, or oftenly at all despite being in what amounts to a rolling distro (devuan unstable)

The AUR isn't integrated by default for a reason, the pkgbuilds aren't vetted for malware before being listed. If users are going to use AUR packages they need to understand that. When you install AUR packages all dependencies are pulled when you pass the -s option for makepkg. If I were you I would quit being a cuck and starting using arch/artix instead of Debian just because apt is insanely slow and cringe.
