@oklomsy Who would ever choose wireless? What is their thought process?

@Supercellol @oklomsy I don't see why you'd choose wireless for such a niche case of walking into another room while leaving your phone behind. What is the logic there? Just take your phone with you.As a user of both wired and wireless headphones, the wireless ones are prone to frequency interference, connection drops, and the typical Bluetooth protocol which is used is a major security risk (the entire Bluetooth protocol is broken, not only for headphones). There's also the issue of battery life and recharging. I haven't had one issue with a cable, but many without one.

@inference @oklomsy Playing basketball with wired headphones is a PITA 🏀Generally for sports wireless is usually preferable for me, although I prefer wired when sitting down at my desk :blobfoxcomputer:

@totoroot @oklomsy If you're doing this, you should have proper sports/movement earphones. This is a genuine exception, but it doesn't change what I stated in my other reply about non-niche use cases.

@inference @Supercellol @oklomsy It’s not niche for me when I do it all the time. My headphones connect to both the computer or PlayStation, and I can go get a drink/snack and still hear my friends in voice chat. For my phone, I use wired, but it’s much more rare for me to use headphones with the phone at all.

@greypilgrim @Supercellol @oklomsy > I can go get a drink/snack and still hear my friends in voice chat. This is a niche case; not typical use case of headphones. Common for you does not mean common or non-niche for 99% of users.

@inference @Supercellol @oklomsy Have you ever worked in an office? It’s not niche to see someone step away from their desk while they’re using wireless headphones.

@oklomsyI work with machines that have moving parts so wires hanging from my neck is a big no go. But I do prefer wired at home.

@greypilgrim @oklomsy It's not the point of wireless headphones, and it's a niche use case. "Let's get troublesome and flawed wireless headphones just because I can't be bothered to take them off and put them back on after walking away". Also, what happens if the connection drops? You'd need to go back to reconnect, anyway. Makes no sense.

@inference @oklomsy The point of wireless headphones is to not have a wire so you’re not physically connected to something. Any other reason you’re coming up with is your preference. You have mentioned zero reasons for me to stop chatting with my friends while I’m not nearby my computer. With your logic, you should plug your mobile phone into a phone wire to the wall. You need to improve your argument.

@greypilgrim @oklomsy A mobile phone is designed to be used that way, as it is not designed to be permanently tethered to the cable; wireless headphones are not designed to be used a distance away from the device it is connected to.Also, take note that I did not say that you cannot have a preference, I stated that these are niche use cases, which they are.I'm not here to change your opinion, just state facts.

@inference @oklomsy Whoever said the poll was about mobile phones? My wireless headphones are for the computer and PlayStation. They -are- designed for some pretty good range.
