       @velartrill @lain there was some hard boundary in the algorithm. a discrete bracket. 9 minutes and 59 second videos and 10 minutes 1 second would go into different buckets. It wasn't a smooth transition.

I told him it may be because he spoke overly slowly in order to be "clear" but that had the side effect of making him speak monotonically. The videos were much more interesting at 1.25x speed. I did it in a polite tone and offered constructive criticism.He gave me the "okay then why don't YOU do better and show me how it's done" thing and his commenters gangpiled on it for 20 comments. He never really expanded in the two years since then despite the topics he covers growing highly in popularity.

       @cowanon @lain I did something similar to another guy who didn't really do audio editing and had a low end audio setup. His plosives blew out the volume so listening to his videos with headphones was murder. I stopped watching the videos and instead just posted something like "Get a pop filter, you need it, and you can make one with thin rags or pantyhose positioned between you and the mic."

       @lain I have a script to default to 2x and a scriplet to go even higher which I use frequently, youtubers are incentivized to talk slowly to cater to a huge audience of non-native speakers of English and to farm viewtime/ads, it's so annoying.
