@a1ba technical requirement of a broken cipher? Even more ridicolous.

@loweel will be honest, I asked my friend who is more professional in cryptography than me. He didn't said that GOST is broken or backdoored. What I meant is that implementing GOST must be kind a requirement by one or more customers. If so, it must be secure enough.

@a1ba GOST is well known to be broken. Here is the paper. Please notiche the Shamir as author:https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-642-34047-5_2sorry, GOST is just a joke today. Either your friend is more authoritative than Shamir, or I’m sorry, my cousin says he is incompetent. And my cousin is always right.

@loweel LOL no.It's different GOSTs. GOST itself just stands for standard, without numbers after it doesn't tell which one.

@loweel it was published in 2012, talking about Soviet era algorithm. But the standard implemented in that MCU is from 2015.

@a1ba read the paper, understand cryptography, or shut up. GOST is still a Feistel structure over 64-bit blocks. You may increase the module and more, but the attack will work on ANY Feistel structure over 64-bit blocks. Which was the matter of the paper, iy you only were able to understand it , or let alone read it.

@loweel interesting, so they do shown new attack variants, which uses much less memory but still requires a lot of CPU time and plain/encrypted pairs. It can be considered broken but it it applicable to real life?Though I will repeat myself, we're talking about modern cipher, which is btw not even using Feistel network.
