I think at this point I'm ready to call a lot of Linux users normies, especially the ones that throw shade on BSD users. OpenBSD developers are giving the glowies the middle finger in special ways that the Linux using normies have a hard time understanding. Wake up guys!

@dudebsd i agree with you. unfortunately, i'm stuck with hardware that not supported by openbsd.i wish i could afford some fancy audio equipment to do all the music work without daws, or at least without bunch of fancy audio plugins, software eqs, compressors and others.these things hold me back.but server-side my choice will always be openbsd, there's no other option 😏

@la_ninpre The cool thing about OpenBSD is that it works best on older hardware. As soon as you can get a refurb dell or HP desktop you're set, like a Dell Optiplex 780 or HP Elitedesk 800In term of music, I feel you, its a money sink, Linux does have good tools now like ardour + vital + audacity.

@dudebsd What benefits does the BSD kernal *specifically* has over Linux, besides a smaller codebase?

@meshyagain Every BSD project is using it's own kernel that's drastically different. OpenBSD has a security hardened kernel plus core utilities/features that are unique https://youtu.be/A8bDwT68VuQ

@dudebsd i don't quite like sound systems on linux, but jack is very nice. just the idea of it, that you can plug outputs from one thing to inputs of another, like in real eurorack, that's sick.i guess, because openbsd lacks this, ardour can't be so easily ported…
