Don't tell me anyone can write like this anymore. The last episode of the Beverly Hillbillies. They did not know they were being cancelled.Jethro is hiding because a homely childhood acquaintance is coming back to town. Turns out shes grown up very nicely.

Miss Jane is in love with Robert Audubon, who wants to get to Ellie Mae. He tells Granny that he's a Crockett, and tells Mr Drysdale that he's a Getty.

https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/the-beverly-hillbillies-last-episode-jethro-returns/This level can no longer be achieved, mostly because the culture is so fragmented. Cultural references are no longer universal. But no one even approximately tries anymore.

@bbhack A yankee must have written that article. The word the author needs is "vittles" not "viddles".

@bbhack —To paraphrase Pat Buttram, CBS literally burned down the forest.Interesting that you posted this blog, as I was thinking about this very subject, in the wake of the death of Dwayne Hickman, who spent a number of years as an executive of CBS.

@bbhack —“Green Acres” definitely had more than its fair share of quirky characters.😂But it did have a great cast of fine actors, including Eddie Albert, who was a noted supporting actor during the 1940s at Warner Brothers. Albert costarred with Edward G. Robinson in the 1940 biopic “A Dispatch From Reuters.”His post “Acres” hit was “Switch,” which costarred Robert Wagner.
