I feel like this is a RTFM kind of moment, but I'm coming up empty. Does anybody know how to run an app with no window decorations full screen in KDE? Just one app. I don't want to have all of them come up that way. Any help would be appreciated.

@mike Hmmh, have you checked to force window rules? I think there are fullscreen and decoration settings possible

@mike Do you mean you have an undecorated window you want to make behave, or do you mean you want special window rules for one app?If the first then look for Window Rules in your System Settings. If the latter, than right-click on the title bar > More Actions > Configure Special Application Settings...From there you can build a set of rules for matching windows created by an app and apply behaviour on them.

@mike As many have covered before, there are lots of options for specific window rules in KDE.

@mike To add to the existing suggestions, as a one-off you can use Alt-F3, More Actions, Fullscreen. Then the reverse to Restore.

@brandon I have an old Linux laptop that I want to use as a Mycroft GUI unit. I have the core and GUI installed, but I want to automatically run the GUI in full screen on startup. Running on startup is easy of course, and there's a flag to maximize the app that can be used when you first load it, but it's just maximized. There's still window decorations and all that stuff that I don't need for a voice only (theoretically) device.

@Tionisla @mike "No titlebar and frame" will give you, well, no titlebar and frame, but it still shows the panel instead of covering the whole screen. There's a "Fullscreen" property for that

@nicofee @Tionisla I threw the kitchen sink at it in the window rules and it got me where I wanted to go! Thanks so much for your help!

@Naughtylus The second one, but I used a solution closer to the first one. It's working for me, but I'll have to check out the other option to see if it's a better fit. Thanks!

@mike @brandon I think the thing you are looking for is kwin window rules. Right click on the title bar and there should be an option for setting those.

@mike Spoiler alert: both solutions lead to the same Plasma settings, I just didn't know which one would be the fastest for you(e.g. If you had no titlebar to click on in the first place, then you wouldn't get very far...)

@mike use window rules from the settings. That’s how I run my Alacritty and Emacs

@mike need another copy of the field manual again? I've once heard someone translate RTFM to Read The Field Manual (I think it was the Happiness Manager @ @system76, I've forgotten her name), which I've instantly adopted as my own translation 😊

@mike You can do this with Window rules: https://medium.com/@CodyReichert/how-to-hide-title-bars-in-kde-plasma-5-348e0df4087fYou'll have to find out the app's window class, and there might be a way to make that regex dot-walk down to the window title
