@rtp_tips@tube.tchncs.de we really need a flagship xmpp instance/client to make it easier for new users to adopt. Once they're comfortable they can move to another server and bring their contacts with them. I'd love to see Dino as "the" xmpp app across all platforms:)

@lps@video.1146.nohost.me I really agree with that. Many don't even come with en e2ee option by default. Dino is nice and can even use your PGP keys now, as well as OMEMO. It's a great clean interface.

@lps@video.1146.nohost.me is conversations not literally what you ask? I've had great success onbaording normals with it albeit needing a little bit of settings tweaks. Even better with self-hosting has been snikket. The app needs practically no tweaking for security out of the gate, it's a tweaked conversations, and doesn't confuse users with verification. Super for closed circles and allowing people to use that id for wider comms. both are on crappy stores and f-droid.

@controlfreak@video.hackers.town I agree conversations is good but not cross-platform .. doesn't come with an option to sign up to a server directly either. Add to that the difficulty explaining to normies the difference between the protocol of xmpp and the client:( When some one signs up for Whatsapp or Messenger they install the app, put in their credentials and they're done. The best I've found so far is Monocles Chat which is a fork of Blabber IM which is a fork of Conversations. It walks the user through a signup and is much more intuitive.
