       @Jdogg247 I don’t think we’ve had actual recycling in most places in the US in years. I know WA gave up on it years ago, but kept all the front end stuff to make people feel good. A lot of that trade was just shipping stuff to China until they quit taking it.About 70 percent of the plastic leaving the U.S. to be recycled was going to China, and the hard truth exposed by the change in policy was that a lot of that was still going to waste. A consultant hired by Washington state in 2020 to propose solutions for plastic usage pointed out that a combination of cheap oil, low demand for recycled plastic resins, cheap ocean shipping to Asia and lax controls on plastic exports “all contributed to a ‘recycling’ system for plastic” that doesn’t actually “reliably deliver environmental benefit.”

       @Jdogg247 The Soviet Union used to run supply trains with food on them, back and forth while the food was rotting on the trains.It was done to keep the records looking good, while people starved in towns and villages not far from the tracks.Same energy.

       @thendrix The only daily trash I send for recycling is cardboard, and that's because the bulk is a hassle to put on my regular trash thanks to online retail.  I can drop it free instead of paying for more trash@Jdogg247
