I don't really get the pro-c argument that CSA is harmful because of society. Like... Yeah... A lot of the harm is because of the power society gives adults (I don't think all, but still), but how tf is that relevant? It'd take ages to change that, dream about your utopia all you want but it's not happening in our lifetimes. It's just not a relevant argument.

@miria Gay rights is a legal issue, and it's still not at all widely accepted. You can get the death penalty for having consensual sex in many, many countries.On top of that, there isn't any significant evidence that gay sex in general is harmful towards the participants in countries where it is illegal. This is because it's completely fucking different of a situation than CSA.Illegalizing gay sex doesn't create a power imbalance between the two partners. Note that I'm not talking about gay sex being illegal, I'm talking about children being looked down on my society and, therefore, giving adults an unjust amount of power over them.

Even if you believed that children can definitely consent by nature, how can you expect someone to give informed and meaningful consent when sex ed isn't taught until highschool (if even then) and they're taught that they can't say no at all?I was that child. When an adult raped me, I had 0 fucking idea what was going on and I had been told not to say no. So I didn't. And I developed PTSD.

It's not a decision that can be made lightly, and it's incredibly difficult to convey to a child that if they have sex there's a good chance their dating life will be damaged and people will view them as filthy and impure.

@Spaghettimon It'll take much longer than 40 years, because it's not a tangible thing. It's a general attitude that makes parents teach their kids to never say no to an adult, that makes people give even the smartest of kids coloring books when they want to read.

Wanna know the wonderful things I experienced? * Sexual harassment * Sexual abuse (even if you think I could've consented, I definitely was not) * Lot's of toxicity if I showed the slightest bit of friendliness towards any anti And I very, very rarely saw any activism. The only pro-c activism organization hasn't been active since the 90s.
