       @jbauer @liebach Bridging to a network with a different feature-set like IRC sucks; bridging to Telegram or Discord works really well. I don't even notice that Discord users are bridged.Stickers turn into images so they're visible on clients and bridges that don't support stickers.

       @jbauer It's really just that XMPP doesn't have any decent clients outside of Conversations on Android, and I'm not sure group voice chats are planned which means using something like mumble in conjunction, most people default back to Discord.From a user perspective, element/matrix come close to a good experience, but they still fall a bit short. From a server admin perspective, while Matrix is actually quite easy to set up, it's far too resource heavy to be realistic for the average admin.

       @jbauer There's promise of Dendrite being better, but if it still uses more than 1GB of ram at all times (which I imagine it will use quite a bit more) then it's just not reasonable. Nobody wants to pay 10$ a month for basic text, voice, and video chat.

       @pavot @jbauer I actually set up synapse a couple of days ago to try it out, it is not even possible for me to join any of the bigger channels (rooms??) on matrix.org. Element simply crashes. Not sure if its a client or server issue, but resources on the server seems fine. So yeah, self hosting seems to be a mess.

       @pavot @jbauer I have two GB, I saw that joining big rooms could be ram hungry, but the thing is that I dont see any accessiv ram usage. Fluffychat refuses immidiatly and element crashes after longer while. I not really feeling like troibleshooting too much though, I was mostly curious :). I have a Mattermost instance with my friends and that works fine, but I like the federated thing.

       @jbauer @liebach There's two other viable client setups but one is mobile only and the other is with software I don't bother mentioning in polite company.
