@StevenDouglas I got excited about the crepe thingee in the 80's but they were such a pain to make; pour batter into a small saute roll it around to spread the batter then dump it into another hot pan to cook the other side This new toy looks like the bomb! Gonna have to join the club $30 what could go wrong!

And done! Eaten, and even shared with Uncle Explosive Sneezer for greater flavor enhancement!First I crisped up and browned - in a LITTLE butter in a skillet - seven of the crepe tortillas I made yesterday (with masa harina). They puffed up beautifully. Light, crispy outside, chewy inside, never had tortillas like these before. Then, stuffed with taco beef, shredded lettuce, cheddar and med. Pace. I ate the big one, then "split" the platter with my neighbor. We wolfed all in a few minutes.

@StevenDouglas You've already pioneered it, Add masa and chile powder to the crepas, then build the tacos, I think I would like this better for the flavor of the shell itself. Crisping it in oil is genius.

@yurself Side: Four year-old Bella, crying because she heard her mom tell her brother that Daddy was going to teach him how to make thin pancakes."Mom, can you please take a picture of me tall so Daddy will teach me how to make thin pancakes too?"Yeah, I don't see her standing on tiptoes at all, she looks plenty tall enough to me, what say you? My heart's mush, I need a second opinion.

@wtawtaw_gal Normal crepes:* 1 egg* 125 g flour* 250 ml milk* salt and/or sugar to tasteMasa crepes:* 1 egg* 90g flour (⅔ cup)* 45g masa harina (⅓ cup)* 250 ml milk* ¼ tsp saltMix well and chill for 30 minutes to allow the glutons to relax and the corn flour (if used) to absorb. You can use regular corn flour/meal for a cornbread flavor.

@wtawtaw_gal Yes. It's like a very thin pancake batter (sans leavening obviously). Almost like a standard cake batter. Easily poured, easily dipped into by a crepe maker or bottom of a small skillet.

@StevenDouglas Understood. Am familiar enuf with normal crepes..was unsure due to masa addition.😊 I'll say this one time and then forever hold my tongue as I'm sure I'd be "scorned" forever🤣 🤣 I have gone (gluten free)😯 (oh you traitor--me!!🤣 )long story, but challenging to a carb addict. So now I'll be experimenting with other substitutes that suit this particular recipe! Not all fake flours are the same😐 Maasa = great!

@wtawtaw_gal Corn has no glutons, of course, but the batter does have egg as a binder. You could go 100% masa harina for flour, try it, then beat in one more egg and try that.

@wtawtaw_gal Oh, and if you want it crispier, while reducing the egg taste, you could use egg whites only (in increasing amounts) and even possibly reduce the amount of milk (or even use just water).

@wtawtaw_gal Did a quick try with a half cup of masa, 1 cup boiling water and a little salt. Let it cool as the corn flour swelled, then beat in a large egg white. Very little adhered to the pan. Beat in another egg white, a little better. Third egg white was a charm, the batter behaved like normal. Problem: It must cook longer, dehydrates the corn again and cooks the egg whites to a crisp. Delicious (no egg flavor), crispy, paper thin and brittle, like the lightest of tortilla chips.

@wtawtaw_gal It bends extremely well for about 10 degrees before you feel a nice satisfying crack. No strength at all. Really nice texture, to be honest, just not as a taco shell. So it will be on my mind for some time. Almost want to crumble it up and put a big handful of it over a nice taco salad. If these were sweet and not salty (just regular corn flour) and stacked together it would be the best crispy flaky crust I could imagine.
