The trend toward minimalism in fancypants keyboards is one of the few things that makes me wish I had a foam bat with "NO, SHUT UP." written on it.So when I imagine the maker of keyboards going, "Hey, that fancy new keyboard you're looking at. Wouldn't it be EVEN BETTER IF IT HAD FEWER KEYS?" I can imagine smacking them with it.

@Azure So you're in the "even TKL feels like too few keys" corner with me, then?

@not_on_pizza Yes! Alt, Meta, Hyper, Super, Control, Shift? NOT ENOUGH. Where's my Ultra modifier? We have Super, how about Duper? I want F13–F24, Help, Menu, and all the rest!

@Azure They should try to use a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A some day. I mean, for real work, not for playing games. The Commodore 64 had 64 keys, and the TI felt positively cramped compared to the 64. I seem to recall that it only had 48 keys.

@vertigo I've never actually tried a TI-99. Once I got out of the age where they mandated a textbook for the math class I got an HP-33 and never looked back.(I kind of regret giving it away when I graduated, though.)

@Azure Not a bad little machine, assuming you can install a RAM expansion on it. (It comes stock with 256 bytes [yes, bytes] of RAM; the rest is RAM accessible only via the video chip, which is partly why the machine seems so slow). It's like TI did everything in their power to cripple the machine.

@Azure keyboards were supposed to have more keys, not less.(the only compact keyboard that should be allowed to exist is thinkpad classic 7-row keyboard)
