randomly decided to install Gentoo... but I wanted to use systemd cuz sometimes I'll go to grab programs off the internet and they only have systemd support...wonder if I should have just stuck with openRC.

oh! I see where I messed up. I tried switching to systemd when I downloaded the openRC stage 3 package.gonna stick with OpenRC anyways

hmm. GRUB isn't detecting my Windows install and Gentoo just shows...``Loading <kernel>...Loading initial ramdisk...``and then freezes. time to pore through forum posts to see what I could have done wrong.

at first I thought that my /etc/fstab was set up incorrectly, since I was mounting my btrfs partition at ext4. that didn't seem to be it.

didn't enable support for AMD GPUs in the kernel options... I'm gonna guess that that's what was causing the issue? recompiling the kernel now. let's see what happens.

just to be 100% sure I'm not going insane and my kernel configurations are actually fine, I'm using a distribution kernel to see if I boot.

ok, yup, I'm just bad at configuring kernels. at least I'm in the system now.the other thing I have to work with is trying to get Windows back into GRUB...

no idea where I'm going wrong. I'm following the kernel configuration guides pretty closely, but it just freezes when loading the kernel. might just reinstall Windows, call it a night (day?) and try to pick this up tomorrow...

starting over with a fresh source and config file to see if that helps... one more once to see if this finally works and I've become a kernel config pro, or if it goes up in flames and I go to bed with a OS-less computer for the night.
