Icky 'n sticky. 😐 #cameras #dslr #technologyBeen in storage a long time.Because.#covid19.Yeah, I didn't do any* #photography since. Just took it out today coz I thought I'd bring it to the new place.Anywayz, same thing happened to my old Sony Ericsson #phone's wireless headset long ago. Stopped using it coz it got icky and sticky.I'm gonna give it a name: #techSweat 🤪Advice? Solutions?

So I just dug out the old D80...How is it that the D80 that's a few years older than the D7000 is still looking perfect? No icky sticky parts? 😶#cameras #Nikon #DSLR

@evelyn had exactly the same and i wiped the rubber multiple times with an alcohol solution over a period of a couple of days. the rubber had some white residu after that which i treated with a tiny bit of vaseline. looks near perfect now and non sticky

@mrb Woh... Really? Thanks! I'll try that! 😊👍Very weird though that my D80 which is even older and stored on the same shelf as the D7000 is still looking perfect. 🤷‍♀️

@evelyn had the same with an old cam. Think I've just rubbed it off with a slightly wet sleeve. Do not use alcohol or soap. It takes some time to clean.

@der_On I've tried wiping the icky stuff off with cloth but the fibers just stick. Then it looks worse. That's why I gave up on my Sony Ericsson headset long ago (and haven't done on it on the Nikon). I couldn't get the sticky stuff off. 🤷‍♀️I should probably try to find it and see if the alcohol trick will fix it. But the battery would probably be dead by now... I guess it's a lost cause. 🤔

@evelyn Please do *not* use alcohol, that could damage your hardware.

@der_On 😳 But I'll only apply it to the sticky rubber parts... It's still bad?

@evelyn okay. You can use alcohol. https://www.outsidetheshot.com/fix-nikon-d70-sticky-rubber-grip/Another tutorial mentioned to first loosen the sticky stuff with a metal tool that is not sharp and then rub it off with cloth + alcohol. I can remember doing the loosening and then rubbing it off with wet paper towels. But it really takes time.
