"I’m unable to resist a good story. I viewed myself not as a pioneer, but as a journalist." Wonderful interview with Donald Knuth on Quanta: https://www.quantamagazine.org/computer-scientist-donald-knuth-cant-stop-telling-stories-20200416/

@entreprecariat when I grow up, I want to be like Knuth:"I write an average of five new programs every week. Poets have to write poems. I have to write computer programs." - DK

@entreprecariat That's indeed a great interview, thanks for sharing! I'd now love to read another entire interview that would elaborate on just this: "A person’s success in life is determined by having a high minimum, not a high maximum. If you can do something really well but there are other things at which you’re failing, the latter will hold you back. But if almost everything you do is up there, then you’ve got a good life." I've previously also encountered the "Strengthen your strengths > Weaken your weaknesses" philosophy (which also has its allure) so I'd be super curious to understand how he sees this dichotomy. :think_starry_eyes:
