       @Moon @xjix @tedu it's still a good point about differentiating between needs and wants, the generational gap perceived can be one of the luxury available growing up but the human tendency to want to satisfy every cheap desire and not controlling that is still there regardless of when one was born

       @xjix @Moon @tedu @orekix Especially because you can get these things secondhand or wait for sales when it comes to games. Phones are actually a requirement now, because that is how you get a job and how employers will communicate with you outside of the workspace. The playstation is probably the only thing keeping them sane. From a mental health perspective, it's probably important. Probably even keeps them off the streets, getting into even more trouble. Honestly, I'd rather they were playing games than getting themselves into trouble. Keeps them safer. The young have been priced out of home ownership and what matters in life so I don't think we need to mock them over the definitions of things. I'm sure they understand. That is a roundabout way of saying I agree. Lol.

       @tedu So the context is, they're being evicted from their home, where they play games on a bare mattress.They walk out with (their phones?) phone chargers and what I assume is a base model PS4 (est. value: $30-60 pawned).So they don't even own backpacks, it seems like they left with the only thing they had worth any money at all.So...this is just a normal case of extreme poverty
