@gear I know losing weight changes your natural grease output, but that's a new one.

@gear You've probably noticed some skin differences too. Most people have less overall acne when losing weight just because of overall diet, but also the body's grease production. Really crazy how that works.

@gear @TheHermitShrimp I heard fat cells produce estrogen, could it be connected?

@gear @harbeau Yeah I'm not sure about the fat to estrogen pipeline. I think it's more linked to the shit that fat people eat just happens to be high in estrogen.

@gear @harbeau @TheHermitShrimp Best way to insure non-globohomo meat is to source is locally. Otherwise I'd suggest getting protein from produce you can get from home... if you want to go full schizo about things. US companies do some nasty shit to our food.

@gear Well, years ago I asked my godfather (who's a physician and also my pediatrician when I was a kid) why my hair went from straight to frizzy, and he told me it was a change in my metabolism. Humans usually experience such changes several times in our lifetime (on average every 5-7 years for women and 7-10 years for men). Weight gain or loss can influence our metabolism (or be a consequence, too) and in turn, certain processes in our bodies (sweating, hair growth, fat processing, etc, etc), but not radically, unless we're coincidentally on such metabolic change, or if there's some hormonal unbalance of some kind (i.e. some problem with any hormone producing gland). On any healthy individual this comes with age, but if there's a precedent in your medical history (or your family), you should consider a full, in-depth medical checkup, specially if you're over 30. For example, my mother had a full thyroidectomy due to an AC almost 25 years ago, and ended up with post surgical hypothyroidism. As a result, her metabolism got fucked, so she cannot lose weight below a certain point (56kg) no matter how much effort or diet she does, and her hair went from wavy to straight and thin (well, chemo and her life-long treatment also influenced a lot). But I digress, the point is, since I have that direct precedence, I need to check my thyroxine levels now that I'm in my 30s... aaaaand I haven't done it, because I'm too busy with work and keep forgetting about it. Hell, I haven't even gone to my annual eye checkup, and the last one was 3 years ago  :facepalm_cirno: So, tl;dr, yes, weight loss can affect your metabolism to a certain extent, but you should also get a full checkup to discard any hidden/potential issue.
