@Immahnoob And anything else they make adaptations of. The track record of fails is too damn high! I'd rather these legacies be untouched and stay in archaic form rather than tainted.And the archaic forms of old IPs are probably better in animation, composition, acting, and sound design than what we have in modern year.

@ChristiJunior Even if they don't push politics, betraying/perverting the source material is bad enough. Although, that doesn't mean I try to ignore the political injections.A good example is the Monster Hunter film... if the director truly was a fan of Monster Hunter, he would consider making a story about the Riders, or just keep it exclusive to the MH universe about some hunters or an aspiring hunter. Instead he had to justify shoving in modern technology, when it would've been an amazing time to delve into the lore of the universe he is exploring. A lot of the monster ecology is wrong too!Incompetence! And incompetence so ignorant it's almost malicious!

@ArdanianRight @Cayhr After Detective Pikachu (despite nogging up the protagonist) and the Sonic movie supposedly turned out decent, anime live action adaptions now literally have a worse record than video game movies, which is really saying something.

@ArdanianRight @ChristiJunior The way I see it, live action is to make actors and celebrities rich Of course, there is great talent in the CGI, effects, and costuming, but that is greatly underappreciated. Animation (esp. traditional) requires actual talent and effort.Maybe I'm being ignorant, but my jaded perception of the industry boils down to: something something path of least resistance, something something creatively bankrupt, etc., etc..

@ArdanianRight @ChristiJunior @Cayhr life action is better for down to earth nuanced stories, specially if the director knows how to use the material reality of whats hes working with. An example that comes to mind is the weird looking actress that plays Wendy in Kubrick's The Shining, I dont think CG could sell the full specter of her face expression and neither I think a stilized drawing of her face would be able to capture the weirdness of her face without exagerating it too much and ruining the mood of the movie.

@smartomato @ChristiJunior @ArdanianRight I like your assessment, and agree with it. 👍It's all about what you're trying to portray, and what method of visualization best exemplifies it. I'm sure the Rush Hour movies could be adapted into animation, but the stunts being done irl is part of what makes it impressive. Plus the factor of being down-to-earth, setting in real life places and such.

@smartomato @Cayhr @ChristiJunior Most prominent action anime are very much not that sort of thing, and the slice-of-life stuff doesn't get Hollywood's attention. The pros and cons of a particular medium are never considered, only how big the name is and how much money you can extract from it.
