Going thru the (redacted number) tabs open on my phone, will probably share a few here. First will be an appeal to re-consider your almond consumption (there are other California related reasons as well)https://www.motherjones.com/environment/2015/01/almonds-nuts-crazy-stats-charts/

@unimagine there needs to be a rule where if you’re gonna point out almonds use a lot of water, you have to also compare it with how much water California’s beef industry useshttps://sites.uci.edu/energyobserver/2015/04/21/beef-in-california-agriculture/and also point out how difficult it is for the agriculture industry to move out of this state https://twitter.com/SarahTaber_bww/status/1413923280470347780

@ilovecomputers I (try) to let single appeals stand on their own, because stacking them tends to break the logical flow, and also diminishes the initial argument. So I disagree with the rule you’ve presented, but I absolutely support it as a separate argument in full (as a long time vegetarian/vegan). And yes, Sarah Taber is legit af - https://mastodon.sdf.org/@unimagine/106562858141529996

@unimagine of course you don’t want to weigh down a thesis with additional facts and context https://youtu.be/XFqn3uy238EBut if that one argument is repeatedly discounted by the same facts, context, and counterpoints, then it’s a misconception. Similar to how people still parrot the dangers of nuclear energy by talking about nuclear accidents, but are omitted the fact that coal power plants have spewed more radiation https://inis.iaea.org/collection/NCLCollectionStore/_Public/43/035/43035329.pdfSorry I forgot it was you who shared that twitter thread. It was a very insightful post :blobcatNerd:

@ilovecomputers @unimagine I'm just going to give a big "thumbs up" here for linking to a document on one of the Internet's oldest (it's been around in remotely-accessible digital form since before there was an Internet) and in my opinion greatest repositories of scientific work, the International Nuclear Information System.👍 #atomicpowertothepeople

@unimagine The water economy of California would perhaps be vastly different today if the Bolsa Island project for a large nuclear combination electricity-and-water plant had gone forward in the 1960s. Alas!
