@Linnie @RonOgletreeThe bad thing about "housing projects"...Is that "housing" is only the short term goal of the "project."

@RonOgletree He was right, too. Yep, back on the plantation. The free crap keeps them there. I can’t believe so many people remain intellectually lazy and can’t (or refuse) to see it!

@EarlThePearls @Linnie @RonOgletree All those “horrible“ housing projects in Chicago were hailed as a vast improvement over what they were replacing when they were first built. They were replacing slums and tenements and rat infested hovels. They were generally well constructed with good amenities. But the people who lived in them did not maintain them or care about them or any of those things. They deteriorated quite rapidly.

@karnage @EarlThePearls @Linnie @RonOgletree In the 90s, a guy told me he never worried about working in Cabrini Green. He said cops are a target. EMS were always in danger, because at least 1 person wanted to make sure the victim s didn’t survive. But when he showed up, every resident, even gang leaders would make way for him. Greet him with a smile. He was an OTIS elevator technician.😎

@karnage @EarlThePearls @Linnie @RonOgletree People do not often value that which they don’t work hard for.

@karnage Those people had no skin in the game with regards to that housing right? Didn’t pay a cent? Didn’t paint a wall, plant a tree, etc.?People base the worth of something on price paid, skin in the game, etc. Those houses were worthless to them.
