       I'm not sure what to make of this. The trans-identified male who spoke at the memorial for the massacre'd Polytechnique women today recently posted a cartoon image to twitter of a young woman (meant to symbolize a trans-identified male) holding a large automatic rifle. The character was wearing a hat with a trans flag and the caption read, "It's NERF Or Nothing." The "nerf" in this case stood for "non-exclusionary radical feminist." The rifle is in vibrant colors representing, presumably, a nerf gun. But many trans-identified men post comics and photos of "hot girls" (whether the "hot girls" are trans-identified males or the cartoons that represent what the men wished they looked like) holding guns and rifles. They mix a "cutesy" aesthetic that is meant to be threatening to women who don't agree to share spaces with them or center them. They often talk in gruesome, serial-killeresque terms of what they want to do to "TERFS" or women who don't agree with trans-identified males and refuse to play the part the trans males have in mind for the women.I want to give the benefit of the doubt that this trans-identified man, despite being clueless or delusional, was not endorsing the murder, rape and abuse of women typical of both incels and trans-identified males. In his mind, he may have thought the gun represented something plastic, a toy, and meant to be inspiring rather than violent. But his subculture promotes violence against women, erasing women's voices, etc... to support these men's desires to be women, which is impossible. He has probably seen this type of art in online circles for trans-identified males frequently. Yet he chose to share a similar cartoon, and then speak at a memorial for women murdered by a man who hated women and saw the way to get what he wanted: to feel power, to feel control by murdering women who were taken unaware. https://archive.fo/ILgIN

       @Blackgendermoderate “I want to give the benefit of the doubt” So do I. But I think he’s playing the “making threats but it’s a joke” game where the person says something violent but pretends they were kidding to get away with it. As in, the TIM is posed with a gun but the NERF thing provides a convenient excuse.It genuinely hurts to see people’s compassion being taken advantage of and their goodwill eroded.
