so far the takeaways of #humanbehavioralbiology lecture 14 are1) white matter matters2) fear, and aggression, while convenient bucket metaphors, are lousy representations of what is actually going on in the limbic system i was thinking earlier today that pain is just fear painted, located frequency. but if fear itself can be broken apart into limbic system activity... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAOnSbDSaOw&list=PL848F2368C90DDC3D&index=14

"you cannot understand the neurobiology of violence without understanding the neurobiology of being afraid, and being anxious" #betterangelsofournature probably went into this in another pov but seriously

* Sopolsky estimates 90% of relationship problems have a single causethe affective magnitude, direction taking longer to reset than logically necessarylike "you did P""i'm sorry here's a heartfelt apology""THAT IS VERY REASONABLE AND I ACCEPT YOUR APOLOGY ...BUT IM STILL MAD AT YOU FOR IRRATIONAL REASONS"and the vast, overwhelming majority of the time this is done by one gender more than the other.so really there's 2 ways of dealing with this1) doing something that makes her feel better and not focused on anger, immediately after fucking up *AND* resolving the cause for the fuckup and apologizing2) i'll leave this one blank but it's pretty obvious if you think about it

@jeffcliff >it's pretty obvious if you think about itOh, I think I know this one. I've even heard of cases where people make up reasons to get mad so they can get to this part.

@jeffcliff Women, and emotional men, can totally get mad or pretty much any mood for irrational reasons. This is not under their control: it's something that happens to them, and then anyone nearby. It's pretty much the limbic system and/or some quantum level spiritual thing, whatever.I once spent a fall, winter and spring living in in a high mountain shack miles from nearest humanity. A week might go by without anyone driving up the nearby jeep track. I would be up there for as long as two weeks between supply runs for food and library books. Heated with woodstove, cut wood with bowsaw, cooked and lit with Coleman gear. Best period of my life.My mood up there still fluctuated, apropos of absolutely nothing, absent any social stimuli.

@jeffcliff or you just laugh at her frustration if she's being ridiculous. You don't have to apoligize if you didn't do anything wrong. As long as you are a man with masculine energy, you should be fine.

@TradeMinister in this case this is justifiable anger: the problem is that after the cause of the justified anger is removed, there's still the anger

@jeffcliff Sure, in cases. In others, it's just moods that come and go like weather.
