Are we missing a significant portion of the fediverse here? Like, there's a bubble here - poast, shitposter, freespeechextremist, gearlandia, sleepycafe and a ton of smaller ones (and spinster, though to a far lesser degree) - but seems like there're a lot more out there that barely interact with this group. Am I wrong? What's up with that?

@MercurialBlack there was a map somewhere, but it mostly boils down that many instances have very low activity, and there are some instances that are in a cluster among themselves and isolated from the rest of fedi

@MercurialBlack there's the Twitter Leftist part of the fediverse, which IME is by far the biggest and most tightly connected, and they tend to defederate rapidly with anyone federating with those instances you list.I can't say I blame them, a large portion of FSE users I've met were assholes.If you want The Whole Fedi Experience you can make multiple accounts at different sites.

@mithrandir ah, I probably should. Being on Twitter gave me cognitive dissonance because of how detached it seemed from the real world; the Fediverse does less so. Hopefully by seeing more of it, I'll get something that looks more similar to what my perception of the world is.

@MercurialBlack I do recommend this instance, it seems to be a bit of a crossroads.Personally I was a lot more comfortable at a small out-of-the-way instance, and I might go back to one. Also I dislike mastodon's user interface.
