There's a few neighbourhoods that have organized a neighbourhood compost on their own, but you pretty much have to make your own arrangements otherwise, and I honestly don't have the space in my tiny bugman apartment.my local city council is having trouble enough with fighting the provincial government on covid (they want to actually do something about covid, the province actively is prohibiting them)

A good part of my family friends work in healthcare. My students have been in and out of hospital. We're not *that* big of a community here, and the healthcare system is a major component of it.

Leprosy I haven't honestly heard anyone in a developed country (ie with a functioning public health system) have a problem with. AIDS is getting under control, but most importantly: isn't airborn (unless you consider covid airborn AIDS). The common cold has been with us since forever but we have the tools to eradicate it, thanks to covid.

Even if this might mean exporting doctors that could be useful locally.it means compromising on other things to work with people you may not disagree with to accomplish this (see: Lib-NDP coalition, federally). The NDP could have held out for pharmacare or something, but they didn't because, in part, they knew if the CPC got in power there wouldn't be any federal action at all. Singh could definitely have held out for *more* restrictions: the borders are open after all, that's what political would look like on the federal level, threatening to or actually causing another federal election over this at the risk of bankrupting the party, and causing another 800M$ cost to the taxpayer rather than just going along with the flow.it means the NDP showing up in force to the leg in #yqr, even when they are heavily outvoted on every vote, using every chance they have to push for changes that would impact the outcome. They could have just showed up and been quiet about it, silently being pissed off about it, but they've had press conference after press conference, motion after motion, protest after protest....it means the city hall in yxe trying to pass a bylaw, and then getting shot down. They could have just not bothered, and left doubt but they didn't - they made a point to prove to the public that it's the *provincial* government who's holding things backIt means *staying home* and not going to erin church concerts, as an individual, getting tested when exposed to covid, and generally not serving as a vector to other people.
