I'm gonna be so mad if Germany manages to fully legalize weed before the Netherlands does. I thought we were supposed to be the progressive country?

@SuperDicq At this point, legalization is more a matter of business competition and positioning in the future market than anything else.

@PcGr@masto.pt That's totally fine by me. Cannabis should be a legitimate competitive business, and not a black market.

@SuperDicq I trust our politicians to land far from „fully legalizing“ in a web of complicated regulations. They won‘t allow home growing for sure and will keep the max amount you may have/carry low. Above all, just wait for german creativity re overcomplex tax laws…@necrosis

@jaddy@tech.lgbt @necrosis@chaos.social Ah so then you'll create a similar situation as the Netherlands has had since the 90s. Sort of legal because we have coffeeshops, but you're not allowed to own more than 3 plants at home and you're not allowed to have more than 5 grams on you.

@SuperDicq Disclaimer, I'm originally from Amsterdam, and Dutch progressiveness is just as much a lie as German efficiency.

@ainmosni@social.tchncs.de Dutch progressiveness is not really a lie. We were that progressive country in the 90s and early 00s. The only lie is pretending that we are still that country ever since we are being ruled by the neo-liberals.

@SuperDicq I honestly think even then, it was less progressiveness, and more practicality, coupled with less dogmatic views on some things. Paars established a lot of the Dutch progressive crown jewels, and most of those were put into place because it was practical, profitable, and there wasn't huge dogmatic resistance to it.Those policies were great however, and the Dutch definitely have gotten more conservative since.
