       In my three semesters back in super artsy academia.... amongst the hoards of genderspecials I see on a daily basis... despite the overflow of drugs, validation, and community they are all receiving daily... a noticeable amount seem to be consistently miserable and behind on school work due to mental health issues. I find it hard to believe faculty haven't noticed.

       @GalacticTurtle The professors I know just keep their thoughts buttoned-up, hoping it passes like some sort of aesthetic fad.

       @Hollahollara There's a middle school arts teacher in my program who emphasized to me how important it is we all continue to state our pronouns to each other because amongst her kids "a lot of them are transgender and working on names and pronouns that fit them best so I like to make sure I'm the most up to date." Like... wtf is going on in her classroom?

       @GalacticTurtle It started in fourth grade around here, that I noticed, and city policy enforces it in the public schools.I was a tomboy as a kid, and I hope my parents would have intervened if some ridiculous teacher started harassing me about if I was “really a boy or a girl.”

       @GalacticTurtle How do faculty expect to send students out in to the real world, as functional adults, if they never teach them how to do it? The real world is cruel, and will not give a single solitary shit about their pronouns if their work is consistently late and subpar. And you can't pay rent with sad feelings. They are being set up to fail.

       @GalacticTurtle @Hollahollara Try using TT's argument, that you're Gender-Atheist. Her t shirts have the pronouns "Hea/then"!

       @Kay This tracks back to even the first college student TIF I met working at a university back in 2017. She was a student stage crew worker in the school's composition program and her life goal was to compose the score for a Star Wars film. But for the life of her she could never show up on time, was always on the edge of a nervous breakdown, and demanded she be assigned to the opposite side of the stage one night where a male student was stationed because she didn't like being grouped with only the two women on her side of the stage for that particular show... and despite the fact her parents were paying for her education and sounded like perfectly normal parents, she seemed determined to cut them off. Last summer another TIF was interning with the company I was doing production work for. Likewise, she never finished any of her assignments, kept having these unspecified medical reasons she could not attend remote Zoom meetings, and eventually got fired before the event even took place. Then of course a grad student I started a class with who became a TIF by the end of the semester was constantly missing classes and straight up didn't write her midterm paper again citing mental health. This is behavior I never saw during my undergrad on such a large scale. At first I thought it was because my undergrad was higher ranked (on the undergrad level) than the places I've been in since as an employee and grad student? But even then, these kids aren't dumb. Yet no one with special pronouns seems able to meet deadlines. Then again, I realize I've exclusively been mentioning TIFs here. Idk about the men. But they're also far outnumbered by the women.

       That's rather optimistic considering Parents failed to intervene when teachers recommend that a generation of children be placed on pharmaceutical-made meth to stop the fidgety little inconveniences making their job a little harder @Hollahollara @GalacticTurtle

       I was in second grade when my teacher told my parents I had to be medicated to remain in her class because my need to sharpen my pencil so often was irratating and disruptive. @Hollahollara @GalacticTurtle

       @OvaryActing @GalacticTurtle Some teachers are disruptive. Holy shit, did not know wanting your pencil sharp was an offense worthy of forcible medication.

       @ObligateSpinster @GalacticTurtle @OvaryActing When I tutored younger kids in reading, I swear some just needed to be able to dart around the playground for a few minutes to help them focus. It wasn’t an option.

       @Hollahollara @ObligateSpinster @GalacticTurtle @OvaryActing Sample size of 1, but in elementary school I would get horrible restless legs. This went away in middle school. The difference? In elementary school we’d oftentimes be sitting at the same desk all morning or afternoon whereas in middle school we had to walk to the next class every 45 minutes. I’ve never had this issue resurface again. Kids need exercise and physical activity.
