ways Metroid Prime 3 literally made me cry today: there's a very subtle sad story that you can completely miss with a particular scan in a room on Bryyo. the first time you scan it, it says:"Bryyo native is encased in solid ice. Scans indicate that the bioform inside is still alive."but later when you come back to the room, it says"Bryyo native is encased in solid ice. Scans indicate that the bioform is now deceased."was talking with @penelope about it and when i mentioned that it actually hit me particularly hard because i wrote down to try to come back later when i have the Plasma Beam to see if i can save them, i just started sobbing on the spot :(

i've been working on finally doing that story-chronological-order runthrough of the Metroid series so having played lots of Metroid games lately i'm developing Thoughts about the series as a whole. the Prime series especially feels so lonely not just because of the general spooky atmosphere that the Metroid series as a whole does a great job of but because of the stuff left behind that you read. you learn about races that used to be here but came to ruin. you learn why you see evidence of life all around you but no actual (sentient) life. so i see "alive" and go !!!!!!so the fact that that's basically just to fuck with you kinda broke me lmao
