@claudiom I didn't see the rest of this thread. You lost all your data? Sorry to hear that, if that's the case. It's happened to me too.

@calculsoberic I was preparing a USB to image the laptops and left it going last night. I knew it would reboot, but didn't realize that it was set to boot to USB first (not by me, but still no excuse). Arrived to the PC imaging itself. Thankfully, it didn't go too far into the imaging because it would have moved the PC to the Azure AD which would have been worse since it's not part of that group of devices.

@calculsoberic Nevertheless, there is a silver lining to this because it needed to be reimaged based on how it was configured before my arrival, but it would have been nice to back up certain things before that was done. Now, it just means I have to spend time setting it up. 🤷‍♂️

@claudiom @calculsoberic oof. It's different every time, but also strangely always the same: Deep, powerful magic is dangerous.

@deejoe Saving grace is that I use the OpenBSD machine for my main use even though it's older. That one probably would have hurt more. @calculsoberic

@claudiom I guess we can both learn from this, huh?? I don't use OpenBSD but was considering experimenting with it, as I do with a lot of distros @deejoe 🥴

@claudiom I've only been using Linux since 2018 (I know, that's UNIX not Linux, heh), but they have some things in common. My first non-PC distro was Whonix. @deejoe

@calculsoberic Yeah, the differences are really under the hood. Userland is pretty similar except for systems management commands. @deejoe

@claudiom Interesting!! Put it on my list of things to test out. I sometimes install them as VMs so I won't mess up my main system :woozy_io: @deejoe

@calculsoberic I especially love network configuration in OpenBSD. Super simple in design just using ifconfig and /etc/hostname.if. I just wish it was a little more robust connecting to enterprise wireless, but I haven't tested that lately so it could be better as of now. @deejoe
