@emacsen @civodul also as a heavy python user the amount of repackaging and patching in Linux distros to python is insane. One can very well write an article with the inverted thesis.

@holger @emacsen From the distro side, what I see is that PyPI does not provide 100% accurate data because things like tests aren’t standardized, so we often have to tweak packages imported from PyPI. This is in part due to the proliferation of tools in Python land, I suppose.For users, I think the biggest issue is that ‘pip’ gets unverifiable binaries and even modified source:https://hpc.guix.info/blog/2021/09/whats-in-a-package/
